The aliens want to send doctors to heal the enemy.

Spotlight Series: Inside Earth’s Secret Alliance

I promised I wouldn’t flood your inbox, and I meant it. But this week I’m doing something new — a spotlight on each book in the Earth’s Secret Alliance series. Think of this as a bonus peek behind the stories. Normal scheduling resumes after this.

This Week’s Spotlight: The Woundless War

All week I’ve been sharing scenes from The Woundless War on my social media, and readers have been asking what kind of aliens would want to heal the enemy in the middle of a battle. Here’s the scene that started it all.

Captain Agugua approached Jones. “General, with all the new weapons you are creating, the Zalma council is worried about the safety of the Moad.”

Jones choked. “Did you say the safety of the Moad? Our enemy? You are worried about their safety?”

“Yes. As you know, our technology has safeties to prevent you from deliberately killing them, but what if you damage their ship beyond repair? Or one of these cannonballs you are making accidentally hits and kills someone on the ship?”

Oh boy. How do I handle this? “Captain, you know that I share your desire not to deliberately hurt anyone, but this is war. We can only do so much to stop them from attacking you without hurting them. Accidents happen, even outside of war.”

Agugua changed colors many times. “Yes, but can we do anything to help them if such injuries do occur?”

“What are you proposing?”

“The council would like to send our medical people to treat their injuries, and our engineers to repair their ship,” Agugua said.

What does Jones decide? Find out in The Woundless War.
