Tony B. Richard is a Canadian author, filmmaker, and transmedia franchise creator based in Lillooet, British Columbia, where he and his wife — who writes under the pen name Lydia Payge — have spent five years building Earth’s Secret Alliance: a six-part franchise that reimagines the 1947 Roswell incident as a first-contact story about peaceful alien refugees, the Zalmen, who arrive seeking humanity’s help and pose a single uncomfortable question — if their God-given technology can do almost anything, why don’t they help everyone?

The franchise spans six interconnected novellas (released as the novel From Roswell to Area 51 and the omnibus Earth’s Secret Alliance: Vol. 1 — The Novella Collection), six screenplays formatted as both features and series pilots, and an animated middle-grade companion, Charlie’s Big Chance. Tony’s scripts have earned a WeScreenplay “Consider,” and Quarter-Finalist placements at Creative Screenwriting and Emerging Screenwriters. Between scripts, he drives a transit bus — and previously drove HandyDART, BC’s custom transit service for seniors and riders with disabilities, including special-needs kids.

Section03

The franchise.

“Earth’s Secret Alliance asks what really happened at Roswell — and answers with a question of its own.”

Set in motion in 1947 and stretching through six interconnected installments, ESA is built around the Zalmen, a peaceful refugee species whose advanced technology can do almost anything. They arrive needing humanity’s help. Humanity, predictably, has questions of its own. The franchise threads cosmic stakes through ordinary lives — military analysts, scientists, a teenage girl named Charlie — embedding meaning through story rather than statement.

01

Six novellas, two editions

The novel From Roswell to Area 51 presents the six stories in chronological order. The omnibus Earth’s Secret Alliance: Vol. 1 — The Novella Collection presents them in original publication order, with multi-POV scenes that double as a character study.

02

Six screenplays

Each formatted as both a feature and a series pilot. Part 3, The Good, The Bad, and The Undecided, is positioned as the strongest first-production candidate — small cast, minimal VFX.

03

Charlie’s Big Chance

An animated middle-grade companion series for ages 8–13+. 22-minute episodes, full series bible developed.

04

Production model

Independent, audience-led. AI is used only for pre-vis and VFX — never for story or screenwriting.
